Happy New Year

I've been trying to think of something profound to say about the new year and pretty much drew a blank. So I'm just going to cite some texts I find inspirational. Feel free to add your own links and citations to favorite texts in the comments.

First, as a follow up to the last post, here's an essay from Soka Gakkai International called "Changing Poison Into Medicine." I just found it this morning, but it pretty much says what I was trying to say yesterday.

A classic text from Tibetan Buddhism -- "Wishing Prayer for the Attainment of the Ultimate Mahamudra" by the Third Karmapa.

Of course, the Metta Sutta -- here's a translation.

And Dogen's Genjokoan, the great Soto Zen classic.

May all beings be liberated.
